Creating a “Sense of Place” – Gateway Project

West Indianapolis struggles to convey the “sense of place” that forms the basis of how neighbors connect with each other and the surrounding community. The Gateway project: signage, trees and landscaping, will identify the neighborhood at six high-traffic areas identified as points of entry. This project will create the foundation for several other major Quality of Life initiatives: the Morris Street streetscape, efforts to improve air quality, and providing an improved environment for business growth and economic development.

Shifting Paradigm– Center for Working Families

Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center (MRNC) will create a Center for Working Families (CWF) – a neighborhood based, one-stop resource for neighbors who are seriously ready to address their future. This comprehensive strategy will link families to educational and employment opportunities, income support and provide intensive financial counseling to enable asset-building. The CWF will lay the foundation on which the community will attain its social and economic goals.
